"Gabe Mueller has been working with the Spirit of Northwest High School Band Program for 2 years as a Brass Instructor and has been a part of our Visual Ensemble Instruction.  She was able to walk in the first day and have an immediate impact on our students.  It is quite a sight to see her interact with our band students on the field and in solo and ensemble lessons.  Gabe has made a positive impact on our program."

Brass Builders

In this workshop, Gabe will help unlock great sounds in the brass classroom, focusing on the importance of air and ear.  Students will take a different look at how sound is created on a brass instrument and will learn basic exercises in order to implement new techniques.  Perfect for middle school brass classes of any make-up (low brass class, trombone class, all brass, etc.) and high school brass or low brass sections.

$150 for two consecutive class periods (approx. 45 minutes each)
or one 90 minute masterclass with solo performance

"Making It"

In this masterclass, Gabe will discuss with students the accessibility of music today, creating your own path, and "making it work" to "make it."  We live in a world of innovation - how has this changed the landscape of how music is created and consumed, and how do you as an individual fit in this landscape?  This masterclass is great for high school students and is suitable for either brass students or full band classes.

My son Noah has become progressively more dedicated to learning to play the trombone. I think he sees what value there is to playing well, and Gabe has helped him on his quest. I sat in on nearly a year’s worth of lessons. I am a musician, and have knowledge as to what is good or bad. Gabe is good. Not only has she inspired Noah, she has exposed him to many outside the lesson opportunities, all of which were valuable and interesting to Noah. Gabe is a motivated, innovative, top notch music educator.

About Gabe

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Gabe Mueller has been playing trombone for over 20 years.  In 2003 she traveled down to Denton, TX to study music at the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance.  She has been fortunate to study with several great teachers, including Jan Kagarice, Vern Kagarice, Tony Baker, Steve Lange, and Donny Pinson.  While at UNT, Gabe performed in many university ensembles, including Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Lab Bands, the Green Brigade Marching Band, and trombone choirs and quartets.  She also marched baritone for three seasons (2002-2004) with Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps.

Now living back in her hometown, Gabe is active in the St. Louis music scene, currently playing trombone with St. Louis funk band Hazard to Ya Booty.  She has performed with many St. Louis ensembles, including the St. Louis Low Brass Collective, the Matt McCallie Jazz Orchestra (big band/wedding band), the University City Summer Band (concert band/pops), and the St. Louis Wind Symphony, and has been heard in the pit orchestra for productions at Stray Dog TheatreGateway Center for Performing Arts, and Fr. William Scheid Players.  She is also an active church musician, soloist, and chamber musician and is a founding member of Harmony Brass Quartet.

Gabe has a bustling private studio with students in the Rockwood, Parkway, Lindbergh, Northwest, and Francis Howell school districts.  She hosts a monthly studio class as an opportunity for her students to meet other fellow low brass students, have clinics with top low brass musicians, perform for their peers, and play in a low brass choir.  Gabe is also a low brass clinician for several local schools and is the Director of Marching for Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, MO.

Gabe has a deep passion for the non-profit world and has worked for a variety of performing arts organizations for over 10 years.  She currently serves on the board of directors for the St. Louis Low Brass Collective.
